Student Photography Show Continues Arts Alive Celebration
Elmira, NY (04/16/2019) — For the month of April, students from the Term II Photography I class are displaying samples from their portfolios in the Gannett-Tripp Library's display cases to continue the Arts Alive celebration.
The photos were taken with film cameras with prints developed in the darkroom. Aside from learning traditional photo editing methods such as cropping, retouching, adjusting exposure, and contrast, students experimented with filters to digitally enhance or alter images. Students also created websites to showcase both their darkroom and digitally created photography which can be viewed here.
Karley Audino '20, a nursing major, recounts her experience in the class "One thing I have taken from this class was to step out of my ordinary routine and take in things around me. As a nurse, we all have set steps when taking care of individuals. This class allowed me to go out on adventures to look for objects, places, and scenes I typically wouldn't be drawn to. This allowed me to capture some of the most beautiful and unique photographs."
