Students and Faculty Present at NYC Psychology Meeting

Elmira, NY (03/05/2019) — Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Christopher Terry, and Assistant Professor of Psychology Dr. Ping Zheng, recently visited New York City with four students to present research at the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association.

Kendrick Wood '19 presented a paper with Dr. Zheng titled "Substance Use, Extracurricular Activities, and Grit" based on their research examining alcohol and caffeine use among college students.

Amanda Campbell '19, Andreas Endresen '20, and Bridget Torresson '19 presented a poster with Dr. Terry titled "Do Mindfulness Traits and Emotion Regulation Strategies Predict Anger Management?" based on their research examining strategies for better managing negative emotions such as anger.

Dr. Terry also presented a poster titled "Smartphone Use and Professional Communication among Medical Residents in Primary Care." This research was conducted in collaboration with The Guthrie Clinic at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania, which examined how medical residents incorporate the use of smartphones into their primary care practice.

Founded in 1896, the Eastern Psychological Association is the oldest regional psychological association in the United States. Each year, psychologists and students at all levels of study from throughout the Eastern United States meet to share their research from a broad variety of scientific and professional subfields of psychology.
