Students Receive Mildred Whittlesey McGraw Attainment Award
Elmira, NY (05/20/2020) — The Mildred Whittlesey McGraw Attainment Award recognizes a junior who has made the greatest contribution in academic achievement, general activities, and citizenship, and who has demonstrated most thoroughly the aims of the College. The award was endowed by Harold McGraw, Sr., former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, in honor of his mother. This year, three students have earned the award, Cameron Sanderson '21, Shawn Backus '21, and Rachel Feltz '21.
"It's always nice to be recognized for the work you do in and out of the classroom," said Sanderson."Being picked out of such a talented junior class is especially memorable. Thank you to those who selected me for the Mildred Whittlesey McGraw Attainment Award. It will further motivate me to achieve all that I can."
"I am honored to receive this award," stated Backus. "It is a reminder of the effort and hard work that I have put into this school year. I will continue to strive for academic success through the remainder of my collegiate career."
"It was an absolute honor to be even considered for this award in the first place. I love going to college here and have loved getting involved in anything and everything that our EC community has to offer," said Feltz. "I would like to extend my gratitude to Dean Halperin for seeing potential in me and for giving me the opportunity to receive this award, and thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout the last three years and has helped me get to this point!"
