The CRC Basic Chemistry Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize is awarded each year to an outstanding freshman student studying chemistry.

The Hypatia Mathematics Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize is named after Hypatia of Alexandria and established by Patricia Opp McMahon '66 to be awarded to a female junior who exhibits enthusiasm for mathematics and the desire to share that passion with others through education or other career endeavors in order to recognize more women for their interest and competency in this important field of study.

The International Student Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize is awarded to a full-time international student who has completed at least one-year of full-time study at Elmira College and who excels in academic and student life.

Elmira College recently named this year's recipients of the Board of Trustees Prize. The Prize is presented annually by the Elmira College Board of Trustees to students who most clearly exemplify the earnest desire to improve academically, socially, or in service to the College community.

The Margaret Locke Community Service Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize was endowed by Barbara Linenthal '75 and other friends of Professor Emerita of Physical Education, Dr. Margaret Locke, to a student who has demonstrated a spirit of service to the campus and wider communities, provides a model of community involvement, and makes a difference in the lives of others through service.

The Class of 1927 Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize is given annually to a deserving freshman woman going into the sophomore class who exemplifies the standards and spirit of Elmira College.

The Algernon DeWaters Gorman Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize was endowed to be awarded to the junior with a good overall grade point average who has completed the most scholarly work in chemistry.

The Class of 2000 Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize is given annually to a deserving freshman man going into the sophomore class who exemplifies the standards and spirit of Elmira College.

Elmira College recently named this year's recipient of the Marian Ames Memorial Prize. The Prize is presented each year in memory of Miss Ames, an outstanding Professor of Chemistry, by the Class of 1936, to an outstanding graduate in Chemistry.

The Helen Bosworth Beers '24 Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize has been endowed by members of her family in honor of Helen Bosworth Beers, a member of the Class of 1924, to be presented to a junior or senior who, in daily living, supports religious principles and who is a good student and an outstanding citizen in the College.

The Mildred Whittlesey McGraw Attainment Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize was endowed by Harold McGraw, Sr., former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, in honor of his mother, for a junior who has made the greatest contribution in academic achievement, general activities, and citizenship, and who has demonstrated most thoroughly the aims of the College.

The Helen Hitchcock Bjorvand Drawing Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize was endowed in recognition of an extraordinary member of the art faculty, and is presented annually to the full-time Elmira College student submitting the best portfolio of drawings.

The Mary Lou Parrella '65 Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 28, in Stephens Lounge.

Elmira College field hockey has been honored week-after-week for its outstanding efforts in the classroom, and this week that trend continued with Liz Shephard '21 being named as a Zag Field Hockey/ National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholar of Distinction.

The Brilliant Class of 2019 recently celebrated the annual Graduating Class Reception in Tifft Lounge on March 22. The celebration included the presentation of the Outstanding Graduate Award to Mhairi Holmes '19.

The Empire 8 Conference honored 61 Elmira College Soaring Eagles on its semi-annual President's List, which recognizes student-athletes who earned a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher during the fall term.

Elmira College recently recognized many of its most promising new students with the 83rd awarding of the Elmira College Key Award.

Academic honors continue to pour in for the Elmira College field hockey team, which saw six student-athletes named to the Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad. Last week Elmira received the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award for an eighth consecutive year.

The 2018 Moser Freshman Prize was awarded to Brenna Garrison '21 and Elizabeth Foster '21 at a ceremony during Family Weekend.

The Elmira College men's and women's ice hockey programs continued to earn recognition for their performance in the classroom, as 11 student-athletes were named American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholars.

Academic accolades continue to pour in for the Elmira College men's basketball team, who after receiving the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award, saw two rising seniors recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom. Classmates Justin Porrett '19, a double-major in Finance and Accounting, and Anthony Abate '19, a double-major in Biology and Chemistry, were selected to the NABC Honors Court as announced by the national office on July 17.

The Elmira College men's ice hockey team placed 16 student-athletes on the inaugural United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on June 25, 2018.

The United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) recognized 15 members of the nationally-ranked Elmira College women's ice hockey team with 2017-18 All-Academic Team honors, as announced by the conference office on June 25, 2018.

The United Volleyball Conference (UVC) named three members of the Elmira College men's volleyball team to its annual All-Academic List, as announced by the conference office on June 19.

Elmira College recently announced this year's recipients of the Provost's Prizes in the Academic Disciplines to seven students who are outstanding in the classroom in terms of their writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills.

The Empire 8 Conference announced that 11 of Elmira College's varsity teams were awarded E8 All-Academic Team status and 71 student-athletes were named to the President's List in recognition of their outstanding work in the classroom.

A pair of Elmira College student-athletes were crowned Academic All-Americans by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
