Elmira College recently named this year's recipient of the Hal Roach, Litt.D. '88 Theatre Prize. The Prize is given by Hal Roach, Litt.D. '88 Sons of the Desert Tent (Elmira) and presented to a graduating theatre major who has demonstrated the potential of a professional career in theatre and film.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Emerson Liscum Diven Prize. The Prize is awarded annually to a senior who has high academic achievement and has contributed the most scholarly work in biology. The Prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Department of Biology.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Elizabeth Anne Graham '42 Prize. The Prize is given in memory of Elizabeth Anne Graham '42, by her family. Her father, Professor of Economics, Grover C.T. Graham, was serving as a College Bursar at the time of her death in 1943. The prize is presented to the graduate who, in the judgement of the Department of Art, shows the greatest promise in the field of applied art.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Dr. Louise Frances Potter. The Prize is given in memory of Dr. Potter, an outstanding microbiologist at Elmira College, to a superior graduate in biology.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Carmine John Parker '79 Prize. The Prize recognizes a graduate with promise as a leader in global citizenship. The recipient must be an international relations or political science major with a related field of study such as foreign languages, economics, history, or business.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Abraham Shabanowitz Mathematics Prize. Established by Dr. Harry Shabanowitz, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, in memory of his father, the award recognizes graduates showing outstanding achievement in the field of mathematics.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's 1917 Prize. The award is given to the graduate who has shown the most creative ability in English language and literature.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Bruce Beaty Memorial Prize. The Prize, established by Dr. Janice Beaty Janssen, Professor Emerita of Human Services, in memory of her son, is given to an exceptional graduate in the field of human services.

Recipients of the Elmira College Provost's Prizes in the Academic Disciplines are outstanding in the classroom in terms of their writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills. Such students take on new experiences in research, in learning new skills and techniques, and have frequently presented or published academic manuscripts. These students are members of national academic honor societies, and the faculty at Elmira College anticipates great accomplishments from them in their chosen fields.

Elmira College celebrated the graduation of 328 students during its 162nd Commencement on Sunday, June 4 at the Murray Athletic Center, Pine Valley. The exercises included the conferring of 296 undergraduate and 32 graduate degrees.

Elmira College released its Dean's List for Academic Achievement for students in the Continuing Education Division for the 2016-2017 academic year. Part-time undergraduate students who have, during the current academic year, achieved a grade point average of 3.600 or higher at the end of the Spring Term and who have completed at least twelve graded credits during the current academic year are placed on the Dean's List for the Division of Continuing Education.

The Elmira College Department of Athletics recognized the achievements made by its student-athletes and staff members throughout the 2016-2017 academic year during the 47th Annual Athletics Award Banquet, held in Campus Center Dining Hall on May 22, 2017.

The President's Council of Elmira College awarded their highest honors, The President's Council Award and the Stand Energy Prize, during a ceremony held May 18 in Peterson Chapel.

On May 10, Elmira College hosted the Eighth Annual Student Research Conference in Cowles Hall. More than 40 Elmira students, representing 10 disciplines and all class years, presented course projects and independent research conducted with faculty.

The 2016-2017 Outstanding Graduate Thesis Award was recently presented to Heather Somers. The annual award is based on originality, insight and judgement, clarity, as well as mastery of the method used in research.

The Beta Tau Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the National Honor Society for adult undergraduate students, recently welcomed the 2017 initiates at a ceremony held in Tifft Lounge, Elmira College.

Elmira College released its Dean's List for Academic Achievement for the Winter 2017 Term. The Dean's List recognizes students that have a grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

This year's Cowles Honor Scholar recipients were recongized at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 30, in Gibson Theatre. The honor is presented to seniors who have earned a grade point average of 3.6 or above and, thus far, have sustained this academic achievement throughout their Elmira College career. This honor is named for the College's first president, Augustus Cowles.

The Mildred Whittlesey McGraw Attainment Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 30, in Gibson Theatre. The Prize was endowed by Harold McGraw, Sr., former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, in honor of his mother, for a junior who has made the greatest contribution in academic achievement, general activities, and citizenship, and who has demonstrated most thoroughly the aims of the College.

The Margaret Locke Community Service Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 30, in Gibson Theatre. The Prize was endowed by Barbara Linenthal '75 and other friends of Professor Emerita of Physical Education, Dr. Margaret Locke, to a student who has demonstrated a spirit of service to the campus and wider communities, provides a model of community invoolvement, and makes a difference in the lives of others through service.
