Margaret Locke Community Service Prize Awarded

The Margaret Locke Community Service Prize was presented at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 29, in Stephens Lounge. The Prize was endowed by Barbara Linenthal '75 and other friends of Professor Emerita of Physical Education, Dr. Margaret Locke, to a student who has demonstrated a spirit of service to the campus and wider communities, provides a model of community involvement, and makes a difference in the lives of others through service.

EC Students Direct One-Act Plays

The Elmira College theatre season debuted student directed one-act plays on Thursday, March 22 in Watson Arena. Three senior theatre majors, Audrey Duarte '18, Renee Henck '18, and Kallah Turner '18, were each responsible for their choice of play, casting, and both technical and performance preparation.

Shannon Strawinski '19 of the women's ice hockey team and Ryan McDonough '19 of the men's volleyball team have been crowned the Elmira College Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 18. It marks the second time this year that both junior student-athletes have been recognized for their efforts by the EC Department of Athletics.

Elmira College's Ari Smith '18, a senior from Eagle, Wisconsin, was named this year's recipient of the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.

Cuce, Sabourin Garner UCHC Weekly Accolades

After picking up two crucial United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) wins over Nazareth College (3-2) and No. 7/7-ranked Utica College (5-1), Matthew Cuce '20 and Jake Sabourin '21 both received weekly accolades from the league office (1/31/18). In addition to being tabbed the conference Player of the Week, Cuce was also named to the D3hockey.com National Team of the Week. Sabourin received UCHC Goaltender of the Week honors.

The Elmira College Theatre Program continues its 2017-2018 season with Alan Ayckbourn's classic farce, "How The Other Half Loves." Performances are scheduled February 8 through 10 at 8:00 p.m., with a matinee February 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Gibson Theatre at Elmira College.
