The Elmira College President's Council is pleased to announce Jessa Barton '24 as this year's recipient of Stand Energy Prize. The Prize, established by Stand Energy Corporation, recognizes an Elmira College student who, in the course of performing an internship with regional businesses or community organizations, has demonstrated outstanding leadership, initiative, creativity, and responsibility.

The Margaret Locke Citizenship award is given annually to an Elmira College student-athlete who has demonstrated a spirit of service to the campus and wider communities, provides a model of community involvement, and makes a difference in the lives of others through service. It is given in honor of Dr. Margaret Chase Locke, who served as a professor and director of physical education at EC for thirty years. She was very committed to community service at the local, regional, and national level.

The 14th Annual Student Research Conference, held May 11 in Gannett-Tripp Library, showcased 32 research projects involving 46 students. The students presented projects from the natural and social sciences, delving into ant populations, student well-being at EC, management concepts, sports and data analytics, and more.

Presented to the female senior student-athlete with the highest grade point average (no less than 3.8) coupled with athletic accomplishments.

Elmira College released its Dean's List for Academic Achievement for the Winter 2024 Term. The Dean's List recognizes full-time undergraduate students who were registered for at least 12 computable credit hours and who earned a term grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

The Center for Mark Twain Studies (CMTS) announced this year's winners of the "Portraying Mark Twain" art competition. In its eighth year, the annual competition is open to all Elmira College (EC) students, regardless of academic major. Four final images were selected for their representations of Mark Twain, his literature, or aspects of his life in Elmira and at Quarry Farm.

Each year the Elmira College Nurse Education Faculty Recognition for Excellence in Nursing is presented to an outstanding graduating senior nursing student who represents the profession of nursing. He or she has actively participated in the Nurse Education Program, such as serving as a student representative with the standing committees, ad hoc committee, and/or active involvement in the Nursing Club of Elmira College.

The Mary Lou Parrella Prize is given by Lina Parrella in memory of her niece, a member of the Class of 1965, to a gifted Elmira College first-year student or sophomore in the field of fine arts.
