The Elmira College Theatre recently performed Love/Sick, by John Cariani, an "unromantic comedy" consisting of nine short plays that explore the pain and joy that come with being in love.

Each year in the Term I Student Art Show, select artwork from students in the First Year Seminar courses along with work by students taking art courses at all levels is displayed in the George Waters Art Gallery. This year's pieces include paintings, ceramics, sculptures, drawings, prints, and videos.

Elmira College recently announced this year's recipients of its annual Key Award. This year's award was given to 783 students in 16 states. A tradition that goes back to 1935, the Key Award is presented to outstanding students in their junior year of high school or preparatory school.

The 13th Annual Student Research Conference, held May 24 in Cowles Hall, showcased 18 research projects involving 24 students. The students presented projects from the natural and social sciences, delving into soil erosion, international student difficulties, the genetics of neurodevelopmental disabilities, classroom teacher practices, and more.

The Algernon DeWaters Gorman Prize, was endowed as an award for the Elmira College junior with a good overall average who has completed the most scholarly work in chemistry.

Recently, nine Elmira College students completed the Soaring Higher Leadership program. Over the course of 10 weeks, the students learned about the importance of knowing their values and skills, listened to speakers talk about their leadership journeys, and helped each other grow as leaders.

The prize is awarded to an exceptional graduating student in American Studies, Classical Studies, English Literature, History, or Philosophy and Religion whose work exemplifies the ideals of scholarly inquiry and demonstrates a passion for the humanities.

Each year, Elmira College students are recognized with the Elizabeth Anne Graham '42 Prize. The prize is awarded to graduating students who, in judgment of the Department of Art, show the greatest promise in the field of applied art.

Elmira College recently named the 2023 recipient of the Barbara H. Palmer '67 Prize In History, which awards funds to a graduating student who has shown exceptional achievement in the field of history and is chosen by members of the College's history faculty.

Elmira College celebrated the graduation of 202 students during its 165th Commencement on Sunday, June 4. The Class of 2023 included 75 honor graduates receiving summa cum laude, magna cum laude, and cum laude honors.

On Sunday, June 4, 172 members of the Elmira College Promising Class of 2023 and 30 graduate students walked across the stage on Carnegie Lawn to receive their degrees and set forth to find their place in the world.

The Professional Nurses of the Twin Tiers Award is presented annually to a graduating Elmira College senior who demonstrates leadership ability and lives in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben or Tompkins counties or intends to practice in the area.

The Rho Gamma Scholarship Prize is given annually to a Rho Gamma member who is a graduating senior nursing student who demonstrates scholarship and excellence in nursing.

The Mildred Whittlesey McGraw Attainment Award recognizes an Elmira College junior who has made the greatest contribution in academic achievement, general activities, and citizenship, and who has demonstrated most thoroughly the aims of the College. The award was endowed by Harold McGraw, Sr., former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, in honor of his mother. This year, Sarah Wagner '24 was one of two students that received the award.
