The 2022 Moser Freshman Prize was recently awarded to 12 recipients at the annual Elmira College Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society induction.

Recently, twenty-two Elmira College students were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, the International Honor Society rewarding first-collegiate-year scholarship.

Elmira College recently announced this year's recipients of its annual Key Award. This year's award was given to 761 students across 14 states and Puerto Rico. A tradition that goes back to 1935, the Key Award is presented to outstanding students in their junior year of high school or preparatory school.

Elmira College celebrated the graduation of 209 students during its 164th Commencement on Sunday, June 5 on Carnegie Lawn at the College. The exercises included 180 undergraduate and 29 graduate students.

The annual Elmira College Nurse Pinning Ceremony, held in Gibson Theatre as part of Commencement activities, recognized 36 students who have completed the requirements for a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

Elmira College released its Dean's List for Academic Achievement for students in the Continuing Education Division for the 2021-2022 academic year. Part-time undergraduate students who have, during the current academic year, achieved a grade point average of 3.600 or higher at the end of the Spring Term and who have completed at least twelve graded credits during the current academic year are placed on the Dean's List for the Division of Continuing Education.

The Abraham Shabanowitz Mathematics Prize was established by Dr. Harry Shabanowitz, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, in memory of his father. The annual Prize is awarded to a graduating student who shows outstanding achievement in the field of mathematics.

During ceremonies prior to Commencement, members of the graduating class were recognized with multiple honors and prizes, including officer commissioning with the United States military.

Each year, the Dr. Ryland Hugh Hewitt, Jr. Award is given to an Elmira College student who has excelled in the field of speech-language pathology or audiology. The award was given by Warren and Louise Hewitt Aldrich '49 in memory of Louise's brother, Dr. Ryland Hugh Hewitt, Jr.

Elmira College recently named the 2022 recipient of the Joseph Robinson Prize. The Prize was endowed by Grace Robinson Billard, 1902 Class President, in memory of her brother and in order to recognize an outstanding student in philosophy and religion.

Elmira College recently named the 2022 recipient of the Barbara H. Palmer '67 Prize In History, which awards funds to a graduating student who has shown exceptional achievement in the field of history and is chosen by members of the College's history faculty.

Each year, one Elmira College student is recognized with the Kathryn Jenkins Education Prize. The prize is awarded to the graduating student, either graduate or undergraduate, who shows the greatest promise in the field of childhood education.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Carmine John Parker '79 Prize. The Prize recognizes a graduate with promise as a leader in global citizenship. The recipient must be an international relations or political science major with a related field of study such as foreign languages, economics, history, or business.

Each year, one Elmira College student receives an endowed award that recognizes the student's ability to demonstrate academic and clinical excellence in nursing. This award is the Dr. Kathleen Sward Prize, which was established and endowed by Dr. and Mrs. Edward Grandt. Dr. Kathleen Sward was the first Director of the Elmira College Nurse Education Program. Dr. Grandt, a highly respected physician and former trustee of the College, was instrumental in the development of the Elmira College Nurse Education Program.

Each year, one Elmira College student is awarded the Bruce Beaty Memorial Prize, to honor their excellence in the field of human services. The prize was given by Dr. Janice Beaty Janssen, Professor Emerita of Human Services, in memory of her son, Bruce.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of the 2022 Kathlene Arnott Watters '65 Prize. The Prize recognizes an exceptional graduating student in American Studies, Classical Studies, English Literature, History, or Philosophy and Religion, whose work exemplifies the ideals of scholarly inquiry and demonstrates a passion for the humanities.

Each year, one Elmira College student is awarded this prize, given by Hal Roach, Litt.D. '88 Sons of the Desert Tent and presented to a graduating theatre major who has demonstrated the potential of a professional career in theatre and film.

The Sharon Cosloy-Blank '66 Science Prize, given in memory of Sharon Cosloy-Blank '66 by her family, is awarded to a senior who has demonstrated excellence in scientific research in the areas of molecular biology, genetics, and/or biochemistry, including students who have completed a summer research program at another institution.

Recipients of the Elmira College Provost's Prizes in the Academic Disciplines are outstanding in the classroom in terms of their writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills. Such students take on new experiences in research, in learning new skills and techniques, and have frequently presented or published academic manuscripts. These students are members of national academic honor societies, and the faculty at Elmira College anticipates great accomplishments from them in their chosen fields.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's 1917 Prize at the College's Commencement exercises. The award is given to the graduate who has shown the most creative ability in English language and literature.

Each year the Emerson Liscum Diven Prize is presented to an Elmira College senior who has high academic achievement and has contributed the most scholarly work in Biology. The Prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Department of Biology.

Each year, in memoriam by her family, the Elizabeth Anne Graham '42 Prize is awarded to one graduating Elmira College student. This prize is presented to the graduate who, in the judgment of the Department of Art, shows the greatest promise in the field of applied art.

Each year, the Dr. Louise Frances Potter Prize is given in memory of Dr. Potter, an outstanding microbiologist at Elmira College, to a superior graduate in Biology.

Elmira College celebrated the graduation of 209 students during its 164th Commencement on Sunday, June 5. The Class of 2022 included 76 honor graduates receiving summa cum laude, magna cum laude, and cum laude honors.

The Elmira College Department of Athletics recognized the achievements made by its student-athletes and staff members throughout the 2021-2022 academic year during the 50th Annual Athletics Award Banquet on May 23.

The Rho Gamma Scholarship Prize is given annually to a Rho Gamma member who is a graduating senior nursing student who demonstrates scholarship and excellence in nursing.

The Professional Nurses of the Twin Tiers Award is presented annually to a graduating Elmira College senior who demonstrates leadership ability and lives in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben or Tompkins counties or intends to practice in the area.

Each year the Elmira College Nurse Education Faculty Recognition for Excellence in Nursing is presented to an outstanding graduating senior nursing student that represents the profession of nursing. He or she has actively participated in the Nurse Education Program, such as, serving as a student representative with the standing committees, ad hoc committee, and/or active involvement in the Nursing Club of Elmira College.

The First-Year Writing Prize is awarded to a first-year student who has taken both courses in the Academic Writing Program sequence and has demonstrated mastery of the writing, critical thinking, and oral communications skills studied in those courses.

The Mildred Whittlesey McGraw Attainment Award recognizes an Elmira College junior who has made the greatest contribution in academic achievement, general activities, and citizenship, and who has demonstrated most thoroughly the aims of the College. The award was endowed by Harold McGraw, Sr., former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, in honor of his mother. This year, Ryan Hardy '23, a Biochemistry major, was one of three students that received the award.
