Academic accolades continue to pour in for the Elmira College men's basketball team, who after receiving the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award, saw two rising seniors recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom. Classmates Justin Porrett '19, a double-major in Finance and Accounting, and Anthony Abate '19, a double-major in Biology and Chemistry, were selected to the NABC Honors Court as announced by the national office on July 17.

Two-sport athlete and recent Elmira College graduate, Sarah Hughson '18, has been named one of the record-setting 581 nominees for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year Award, as announced by the NCAA office on July 12, 2018. Hughson is one of 170 multi-sport athletes in this year's pool and is among 199 nominees from the Division III level.

The Elmira College men's ice hockey team placed 16 student-athletes on the inaugural United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on June 25, 2018.

Elmira College recently announced this year's recipients of the Provost's Prizes in the Academic Disciplines to seven students who are outstanding in the classroom in terms of their writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills.

The Empire 8 Conference announced that 11 of Elmira College's varsity teams were awarded E8 All-Academic Team status and 71 student-athletes were named to the President's List in recognition of their outstanding work in the classroom.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Dr. Louise Frances Potter. The Prize is given in memory of Dr. Potter, an outstanding microbiologist at Elmira College, to a superior graduate in biology.

A pair of Elmira College student-athletes were crowned Academic All-Americans by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Elmira College recently awarded the Jeannette Elizabeth Sheldon '78 Prize in Foreign Languages. The Prize was endowed by Albert Smith Sheldon in memory of his sister, a member of the Class of 1878, and is awarded to the member of the graduating class with the highest achievement in foreign language study.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Bruce Beaty Memorial Prize. The Prize, established by Dr. Janice Beaty Janssen, Professor Emerita of Human Services, in memory of her son, is given to an exceptional graduate in the field of human services.

The 2018 recipient of the Kathryn Jenkins Education Prize was recently announced at Elmira College's Commencement exercises. The Prize is given by Dr. Janice Beaty Janssen, professor emerita of human services, in memory of an outstanding teach in the Elmira City Schools. The Prize is awarded to the graduating student, either graduate or undergraduate, who shows the greatest promise in the field of childhood education.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Abraham Shabanowitz Mathematics Prize at its Commencement exercises. Established by Dr. Harry Shabanowitz, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, in memory of his father, the award recognizes graduates showing outstanding achievement in the field of mathematics.

Two students were named this year's recipients of the Hal Roach, Litt.D. '88 Theatre Prize at Elmira College's Commencement exercises. The Prize is given by Hal Roach, Litt.D. '88 Sons of the Desert Tent (Elmira) and presented to a graduating theatre major who has demonstrated the potential of a professional career in theatre and film.

The recipient of the 2018 Sharon Cosloy-Blank '66 Science Prize was recently named at Elmira College's Commencement exercises. The Prize is awarded to a senior who has demonstrated excellence in scientific research in the areas of molecular biology, genentics, and/or biochemistry.

Elmira College recently named the recipients of this year's Elizabeth Anne Graham '42 Prize. The Prize is given in memory of Graham '42, by her family. Her father, Professor of Economics, Grover C.T. Graham, was serving as a College bursar at the time of her death in 1943. The prize is presented to the graduate who, in the judgement of the Department of Art, shows the greatest promise in the field of applied art.

Elmira College recently named the recipient of this year's Dr. Ryland Hugh Hewitt, Jr. Award. The Award is presented to a junior or senior who has excelled in the field of Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology.

The recipient of this year's Emerson Liscum Diven Prize was recently announced at Elmira College's Commencement exercises. The Prize is awarded annually to a senior who has high academic achievement and has contributed the most scholarly work in biology. The Prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Department of Biology.

Elmira College released its Dean's List for Academic Achievement for students in the Continuing Education Division for the 2017-2018 academic year. Part-time undergraduate students who have, during the current academic year, achieved a grade point average of 3.600 or higher at the end of the Spring Term and who have completed at least twelve graded credits during the current academic year are placed on the Dean's List for the Division of Continuing Education.
